A school-record 89 Norfolk State University student-athletes have been named members of the 2013-14 MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team.

Norfolk State University Athletics Director Marty L. Miller released the following statement Wednesday in response to the NCAA's yearly release of the Academic Progress Rate (APR) data:

Senior softball player Morgan Boyd (Chesapeake, Va.) and junior football player Lynden Trail (Miami, Fla.) were named Norfolk State University Female and Male Athletes of the Year, respectively, at the school's athletic awards ceremony on Monday night.

Norfolk State University director of track and field programs Kenneth Giles announced Friday the signing of distance runner Haileyesus Damsie to a national letter of intent to compete for the Spartans beginning in the fall.
